The third pillar of rhetoric: Pathos.
Pathos originally means pain or passion.
Pathology? The word of pain.
Empathy? Feeling into someone else.
And path? Definitely not a joyride centuries ago.
Translated into the 21st century, pathos asks:
Do you, the speaker, connect with me and my feelings?
Can you move me emotionally?
Once, I attended an event in Helsinki. A brain researcher shared one simple truth in her speech:
“There is no decision in life without emotional engagement.”
So let’s see how you can connect more (pathos) with your audience as a persuasive speaker.
The workbook will guide you through every module, help you structure your thoughts, and turn insight into action.
